Eligible students get 1,000 Kiro credits each month for 12 months, which is up to one year of access. You must be 18 or older, currently enrolled at a participating university, and have a Kiro account with a valid email address from that university. Program benefits are limited to one per participant.
The first time you upgrade to any Kiro paid plan, you get $20 credited toward your subscription when signing in with social login or AWS Builder ID, not AWS Identity Center. Upgrading requires a valid credit card, and the credit is prorated by the days left in the month, so a June 15 upgrade to the $20 Pro plan gives $10 credit and a $10 charge on July 1.
Your account is automatically downgraded to the Kiro free tier once the one-year access expires. You will not lose any work, and your code, specs and projects remain on your machine.
Kiro Crew is open source under the Apache License 2.0 with no separate subscription or fee, but it needs a Kiro plan to run. Its model requests count against your Kiro plan with no separate metering, and scheduled jobs that run plain scripts without a model call use no requests.
No. Unused Kiro credits do not roll over month to month, and you cannot buy additional Kiro credits during the student benefit period. Usage limits reset at the start of each billing month.
