How Couponly uses cookies

Cookies are small files a website asks your browser to store and send back on later visits. Couponly uses them sparingly: to keep you signed in, to remember choices you make, and — only with your consent — for analytics and marketing.

Signing in works without any consent prompt because sign-in cookies are essential: the feature you asked for cannot work without them. Everything non-essential asks first, through the cookie banner.

The kinds of cookies we use

• Essential. Sign-in cookies that keep you logged in to your account (they appear only when you sign in, and signing out removes them), plus a short-lived visit cookie (15 minutes) used for security and abuse prevention. Being strictly necessary, these do not require consent.
• Your consent choice. One small cookie that remembers your cookie-banner answer for 12 months, so we don't ask again on every visit.
• Analytics — only with your consent. Set only after you choose “Accept All” on the banner. They help us understand how the site is used — which pages are visited, which sites refer people to us, and how many people are browsing — using cookies and similar identifiers that tell visitors apart. Analytics cookies last up to about 2 years (the usage data itself is retained for 14 months — see the Privacy Policy). Decline them later via Cookie settings and we delete them.
• Advertising & marketing. Cookies that measure our ad campaigns or support marketing — for example, telling us that an ad brought you here. Like analytics, they are set only with your consent through the banner.

The site also keeps a few small preferences on your device (such as your light/dark theme and display currency). They never leave your browser.

The cookie banner and your choices

EU rules require consent for cookies that are not strictly necessary, so anything non-essential asks first. The banner's “no” is exactly as easy as its “yes” — one click each — and nothing non-essential is set before you answer.

Your answer is remembered for 12 months. You can change it at any time via Cookie settings in the footer — declining after a previous “yes” deletes the analytics cookies and stops analytics on the spot. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, we treat that as a standing “no” to non-essential cookies without asking.

Coupons, affiliate links, and leaving for a store

When you use a coupon or click out to a store, the link may be an affiliate link. It can route you through an affiliate network on the way to the merchant, and the network or the merchant may set cookies on their sites so the merchant knows Couponly sent you — that is how we may earn a commission. Those cookies are governed by the network's and merchant's own policies, not ours.

That never costs you anything — you never pay more because we earned a commission. And we do not overwrite an affiliate attribution someone else already earned — for example, a creator's link you followed to the store.

Blocking merchant or network cookies in your browser does not affect anything on couponly.ai; just note that most stores' own checkouts (and therefore the extension's automatic coupon applying on those stores) need the store's own cookies to work.

Advertising

We promote Couponly with ads on social media, search engines, and similar platforms. Those platforms use their own cookies and identifiers on their own services, under their own policies — seeing or clicking one of our ads there does not set anything on couponly.ai. Any advertising or campaign-measurement cookies on couponly.ai itself go through the cookie banner first — nothing is set without your consent.

The browser extension

The extension does not use cookies for its own data. What it keeps — your preferences, saved codes, caches, your savings history — lives in your browser's extension storage on your device, and uninstalling the extension removes it. Nothing there syncs through your browser vendor's account.

While applying codes at a store's checkout, the extension works with that store's own cookies already in your browser so the coupon form actually submits; their contents are never sent to Couponly. What the extension sends to our servers is a separate topic, covered in full in our Privacy Policy.

Managing cookies

• Cookie settings in the footer reopens your consent choice at any time — no browser digging needed.
• Your browser's settings let you view, block, or delete cookies for any site. Deleting couponly.ai cookies signs you out and forgets your banner answer, so you'll be asked again.
• Blocking cookies for couponly.ai entirely means staying signed in won't work — but browsing stores, searching coupons, and viewing prices all still do.

Changes and contact

Every cookie we set falls within the categories described on this page, and anything non-essential asks for your consent first. When these categories or their purposes change, we update this page and the date at the top. This page also covers our mobile apps for iOS and Android.
